One day at the end of April, Charlie and I visited a farm with the local home-ed group. We had a short time to explore the farm before assembling in the barn for a talk on life cycles and a chance to feed the lambs.
This was the highlight of the day for Charlie. After feeding time, the farmer showed us his youngest lamb, who was only one week old.
After the talk, we ate our sandwiches outside, sitting in the sunshine. We still had plenty of time left to visit the rest of the animals on the farm. We met pigs, goats, rabbits, ducks and hens - and Charlie was delighted to discover several chicks with one of the hens.
He also spent a long time enjoying the playground.
Before we left, we paid a visit to the farm shop and bought some fresh farm eggs and some elderflower cordial.
